Tanner Pfeiffer is a culture crafter and sound syncretist known for “coaxing energetic and nuanced improvisations and interpretations into being.” With an artistic practice revolving around gameplay, storytelling, and melodrama, Tanner is known to “never settle for anything less than outrageous.” Compositional focuses include polystylism, satire, and community building. Tanner is the artistic director of genderqueer vocal octet 8TPS (@8tps.music).
Tanner has premiered more than 120 new works since 2014, performing as a vocalist and violist at venues such as Walt Disney Concert Hall, REDCAT, The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA, and The International Quilt Study Center & Museum. Conducting engagements have included 8TPS, C3LA, Key Change Ensemble, The Isaura String Quartet, CalArts Opera, and LA Valley College Theater.
